Powiat council

Powiat council is a decision-making and controlling body. Its tenure lasts 4 years and starts on the day of the election. The councillors are elected in direct election. The powiat council consists of fifteen councillors – in powiats with not more than 40, 000 inhabitants plus two councillors for every next 20, 000 inhabitants, however, not more than twenty-nine councillors altogether.
