National Population and Housing Census (NSP)

National Population and Housing Census is the survey conducted on the total collection of observed objects that belong to a given population or community. National Population and Housing Census gives the most detailed information about the population, the territorial deployment, demographic-social and labour structure as well as social- economical characteristics of households and families and their housing stock on each level of the territorial division of the country (national, regional, local). Particular emphasis in NSP 2011was laid on obtaining knowledge about the changes in demographic and social processes i.a., concerning the increased migrations after Polish access to the EU. The census results are directly used for the purposes of official statistics as a basis for sampling frame for further representative surveys carried out on the households sample. The data sources are: traditional national censuses; censuses based on the administrative data; combination of the traditional census with representative surveys; combination of administrative data with representative surveys; combination of national censuses based on administrative data with traditional national censuses; combination of national censuses based on administrative data of representative surveys and traditional national censuses; respective surveys based on rotate sample (rolling census).
